My sisters came to our house with her boyfriend and then they were about to come to skating but we told them it was pack. Then my sister said there is a place called Extreme and they said it is in  Botany and then we went there and then we got there and we got off everyone was ready then we went inside. We went in there then we wait to give the money. And then we give the money to them then they give us a card then we went play. And then we had heaps of time to play.

LO: We are learning to determine the author’s purpose.

Authors have many different reasons for writing. For example, an author might write to inform or explain something to the reader about a topic, to persuade someone to think about an idea or convince them to do something, or simply to tell an entertaining story. Sometimes it’s hard to identify the author’s purpose because there might be a little bit of everything in the story.

Authors don’t usually state a purpose, so you need to pay close attention to the details that
are given in the text in order to be able to determine the author’s purpose for writing.

THINK! What was the main reason this story was written? This will be the author’s purpose.

You need to find evidence in the story that would support the author’s purpose. List evidence under the appropriate purpose. Once you have completed this blog it with an explanation of what you have done and the story you have read!

And then they had people taking the rubbish to put it in the boat.
Before they put it in the boat they put it in the fire to make it burn.
Did the author tell me a story? (entertain or explain)

Did the author try to teach me something? (inform)
